ibeachalot's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We're Wired!! Are you sitting down? I actually have digital cable. After almost five weeks of hearing every excuse in the book from the cable company, from: It's the weather It's construction-related It's because of non-payment (?) It's "just one of those things" (that was my favorite) to "please, please don't cancel your service!" ... finally a technician came out and was able to find the problem. When the guy arrived this morning, the first thing he said to me was, "Everyone at Charter is a moron." Well, I'd have to agree with that. He turned on the TV and the cable box. He checked a few things, then turned the box upside down. He asked if any of the times that we called the customer service number, did they ask us to turn the box upside down and read them a number. I said no, they hadn't. Turns out the stupid asshole who installed the cable never registered the box number with the company so the computer never knew that we were supposed to be receiving sevice! We waited for about ten minutes for everything to download and he showed me all the nifty things the remote control does, another thing the stupid asshole installer failed to do. That thing rules. It has a search engine, parental controls (no more Cartoon Network!) and all kinds of kewl features. He told me that they don't properly train anyone there. They just stick them on the phone and have them say whatever comes to mind. It's the same thing with their technicians. They send them out to plug in boxes and they don't know a damned thing else. Now that the kids are in bed, I plan to channel surf and see what we have now, finally after all this time!
